Position Summary:
Our client is a non-profit trade association with staff of 15 that provides
support services for 3000 REALTOR® members. The Accounting Manager functions
as the Chief Financial Administrator and Chief Information Administrator
of the association. Ensures the proper operation of all accounting and membership
information systems, provides reports as needed for the operation, reviews
business plans. Supervises the accounting staff to include outside contractors.
The Accounting Manager is the “champion” of the association's
proprietary membership and accounting system (MMSI). In this position he
/ she works
with staff and MMSI to determine needs and most efficient business processes
in a continuing effort to constantly improve and streamline operations.
Competencies & Essential Duties:
- Implements accepted accounting principles,
practices and procedures in performing or reviewing all accounting
transactions.
- Works closely with the CEO to prepare
and maintain all accounting records and reports to include general
ledger, financial statements and personnel records.
- Operates, updates and maintains automated
accounting system (MMSI), including the operational interface
with departmental users.
- Manages receivables, payables, general ledger
and all other accounting functions.
- Manages all bank accounts and account reconciliation.
- Prepares monthly operating statements,
balance sheets and other reports for the operation of the business
and for department reviews, budget and finance committee, and
board of directors.
- Manages the finance department budget.
- Ensures tax planning and implementation
of tax minimization concepts. Ensures all tax returns and government
reports are filed on a timely basis.
- Supervises or assists in preparing and
submitting depreciation schedules, asset listing, general ledger
entries and other required accounting and financial documents,
ensures reconciliation of accounts with source documents / transactions
to ensure accuracy.
- Ensures procedures are implemented and
followed regarding daily cash control, deposits of cash and checks,
processing of credit card transactions and invoices, reconciliation
of bank statements, preparation of checks and vouchers and reconciliation
travel advances with expense reports.
- Coordinates the preparation, maintenance
and reconciliation of budgets.
- Assists in the administration of employee benefits programs, explaining benefits and advising on the handling enrollments and claims. Note: An employee service contractor handles major human resources responsibilities.
- Ensures proper allocation of payroll and contractor expense to appropriate cost centers.
- Assists in major purchases through analysis of financing
and leasing options.
- Ensures filing system, safekeeping and security of
all personnel records, contracts, tax filings, legal documents and financial
reports.
- Manages accounts receivables. Prepares and submits
invoices.
- Implements and manages credit card systems so department
personnel can efficiently process credit payments.
- Maintains schedules for employee reviews, ensuring
supervisors conduct reviews according to schedule. Maintains
employee records and ensures proper accounting for employee hours,
and personal time off based on review by supervisors and the
operations manager. Ensures payroll reports are prepared on a timely basis
for outside employee
management service and ensure necessary funds transfer to make
payments. Assists employees with benefit program enrollments
and ensures current information is available for all employee
benefits.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of managing the accounting function
for companies with a demonstrated record of success. He / she takes a hands on
approach in
all work assigned, but is able to delegate and follow-up well. This individual
has a record of success managing the day-to-day functionality of an accounting
department yet has the vision and direction to work projects that financially
effect the company. The Accounting Manager is a team builder who attracts,
motivates and retains key personnel and energetically supports the overall
company mission.
Education:
BS in Accounting or other related field preferred.

and presentation skills.

and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment and

and effective accounting system.
- Minimum of 3–5 years experience in running
an accounting department.
- Personal computer skills including working
with an integrated management information systems, and Microsoft
Office products.
